Cool, dry weather continues in Bay Area Wednesday

Posted

(BCN) -- Wednesday in the Bay Area calls for sunny skies during the day, with cloud cover and patchy fog in multiple parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Daytime highs will be mostly in the mid 60s to low 70s on the coast and inland, and mid to high 60s around the bay. Overnight lows will be in the high 40s to low 50s.

Forecasters say cool, dry weather is expected across the Bay Area on Wednesday, with a risk of minor coastal flooding during high tide.

Morning temps will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s in inland valleys, with the coldest spots in the eastern Santa Clara Valley and interior Central Coast mountains dipping into the mid-30s. Coastal areas will see morning lows in the upper 40s to low 50s, according to the NWS.

Clouds are expected to linger through the day. Patches of low clouds may spread during the morning before some clearing after sunrise, while higher clouds will arrive in the morning and persist into the evening and beyond, forecasters say.

Winds will remain relatively light, with a gentle onshore breeze developing in the afternoon and evening. Gusts could reach 20 mph in some coastal areas and through favored gaps and passes.

The weather service warns of a risk of minor coastal flooding at high tide along the bayshores of San Pablo, San Francisco and Monterey bays, as well as along the Pacific coast. At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is projected to reach 1.9 feet above normal, or 7.7 feet on the Mean Lower Low Water scale, at 12:56 p.m. Wednesday. The NWS forecast includes about 1.2 feet of surge residual partly attributed to El Niño.
